Facebook and Twitter users, be aware of “pishing” scams, attacks, & tactics  that bad guys utilize to acquire sensitive information such as usernames and passwords. Once you click the links posted on your inbox, chat box, direct message, it links you to a fake login page. Once you type in your username and password, the scammers use the retrieved info to hack the owner’s account and now victimizes his list of friends and followers by repeating the process of  linking them to a fake login page.

Here’s a snapshot of  how a hacked account tried to get my  interest – “Hi Pastor, What are you doing in this video? LOL Embarassing.”  Now the defensive side of me immediately reacted to what this embarassing video could be. But as soon as I clicked the link, I was asked to log-in. I immediately sensed it was a pishing scam.  Pishing is a deceitful process to acquire sensitive information.  Be aware of this. how to avoid pishing scams, attacks, hacks

How To Avoid Pishing Scams

1. Log out. Be sure to log out when you use a public computer.

2. Check source. If you are asked to provide sensitive information, check out if the source is valid or fake.

3. Verify. Send a message to the username’s account and ask if his/ her account was hacked. If you sense its the hacker who is replying to you, ask personal information that only the user really knows.

4. Change passwords. Make secure password with a combination of letters, sybols, & numbers. Try to change your passwords  or rotate a series of passwords in a year. Change your passwords if your account is hacked or better yet open a new account.

5. Follow your instinct. If you sense something fishy, it might be pishing.

Hello everyone!  Please be reminded that in support of the EASNAC (Adventist University of the Philippines Alumni Association Eastern North America Chapter ) Convention, we are not holding church services at Bramalea Fil-Can SDA church this weekend.

Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel

We encourage everyone to come and join the EASNAC worship gatherings.

Parents, kindly encourage our young people to come and experience these blessings. We don’t know when the next EASNAC convention will be held in Canada again so let us make the most out of this opportunity.

Bramalea Youth Group, let’s get connected to God and listen to powerful messages and enjoy a closer walk with God. I know you will have fun so come and join us.

Our guest speakers are:

Ann Roda, pastor at New Hope Adventist Church in Fulton, Maryland. Ann’s three goals in life:  The first is to “be still and know God, ”  the second is to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and the third is to lose those last annoying seven pounds. God called Ann to Pastoral Ministry after she spent 15 years in a corporate career.  Her husband Jose Hernandez is a Chaplain Director with Adventist Health Care.

Bing Alabata, an itinerant gospel preacher based in Hinsdale, Illinois. His passion is Christ-centered Biblical preaching and equipping ministers and lay evangelists to do likewise.  He takes the following counsel of Ellen White very solemnly:  ”Never should a sermon be preached, or Bible instruction in any line be given, without pointing the hearers to ‘the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.’ John 1:29.  Every true doctrine makes Christ the center, every precept receives force from His words.” 6T 54

The convention will be held at  Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel, Suites and Conference Centre 600 Highway 7 East Richmond Hill, Ontario.
